Variable Speed Pumps

Today, most pumps we encounter are a single speed pump.  A single speed pump is only about 50% energy efficient which means that up to 50% of the electricity that goes into the pump is expelled and wasted in the form of heat.  This is because a single speed pump only operates at one fixed speed the entire time it is on.

All single speed pool pumps run at a constant RPM the entire time the pump is on.  A variable speed pump, like the PENTAIR INTELLIFLO shown above, is ENERGY STAR Certified and meets strict energy efficiency criteria set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.  The energy savings is up to 90% versus traditional pumps*. Variable speed pumps are giving our customers an average savings from $500 to over $1000 per year on their electricity bills.  When our customers call Price-Rite Pools for an estimate needing a new pump, we offer them the option of purchasing a variable speed pump which over a short period of time will actually pay for itself through lower electricity bills.  We will assess the customers needs and program the pump so that it is running at optimal speed and duration.

(*Savings is based on variable speed pumps compared to a single speed pump running 12 hours per day at an average of $0.16 per kWh in a 20,000 gallon Pool.  Actual savings may vary based on local utility rates, pool size, pump run time, pump horsepower, pump rpm, plumbing size and length, pump model, service factor and other hydraulic factors.)
